Happy Anniversary to Amitabh & Jaya Bachchan
It's time to celebrate for senior Bachchans! Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan - the adorable on-screen and off-screen couple of B-town - celebrate their 38th wedding anniversary today.
On 3 June 1973, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri entered the wedlock. It was after a month their movie 'Zanjeer' got released. As if lady luck would have it, 'Zanjeer' rocketed Amitabh to greater heights and he was hailed as 'The Angry Young Man'. The movie was announced at a time when the actor had earned several flops and also most of the actresses then were not willing to act. It was when Jayaji stepped in... And rest is history, they say… A case of rab ne bana di jodi...
Their married life remaining steady, unmoved by any controversies or gossips... 'Abhimaan' which released after their marriage had acted as fodder to grapevines as it was speculated that the film's story ran parallel to their real life.
Did you know? Their daughter Shweta was born while the couple was working on 'Sholay'.
'Silsila' had been Jayaji's last film as the lead heroine, after which the actress went on to raise family. Later she returned in 1998 in 'Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa' and shared the screen space with hubby in 2001's family blockbuster 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'.
Of late the couple are seen in a popular brand jewellery ad. Their cute chemistry made the audience feel the veteran actors should act together more often.
